Photography time
This is more so a note to myself. As in, I got a camera. As in, time to learn the photography trade and do some sweet stuff with it.

Riceboy Sleeps ... Live.
// ]]]]>]]> There are few words to describe how great it is to hear this performed live. Jonsi and Alex with a live choir and orchestra, performing one of the best ambient albums in existence. Best 40 minutes I’ve spent in a long, long time. For info about the performance in a beautiful church for the White Light Festival, visit WQXR’s website.

how I met Tim
[as told to my friend Erin this morning] basically, I was talked into being an ad sales rep for the K-state radio station by my friend Jay. then we did a promo for a newsletter that none of the other reps fulfilled, so in one day, I took it upon myself to sell all the ad space in Aggiville. Then that night, I was up until 3 for no good reason (in the dorms), and I heard my friend Paul come up the...

my letterpressing friend →
I met my now good friend Erin when I began working in Kansas City. She has played (and continues to do so) a large role in developing my graphic design abilities and creativity, and even after she moved to Ohio, has stayed in close touch with me. She’s a very inspirational person to me. One of Erin’s interests is letterpress (check some of her stuff on inky winke). She owns two...

morning coffee
It’s surprisingly refreshing to have a good coworker friend email me in the morning and ask if I’d like to go get coffee. Granted, she took twice the normal dose for muscle relaxants and seemed drunk this morning, but it was fun to walk with her and another coworker to Mildred’s. Even though the beautiful sun was providing 90 degree weather at 9:30 am, it was the laughing and...

A live version of one of my very favorite songs by Imogen Heap, “It’s Good to be in Love.” Please, do yourself a favor and listen to it now.

The culmination of the Halo universe
“And so here at the end of my life, I do once again betray a former master. The path ahead is fraught with peril. But I will do all I can to keep it stable - keep you safe. I’m not so foolish to think this will absolve me of my sins. One life hardly balances billions. But I would have my masters know that I have changed. And you shall be my example.” —Mendicant Bias to...

Even in a work place that is built around collaboration (I work where ideas are king), it’s good to find ways to focus. Can certainly help me feel better about myself when I’m accomplishing goals, especially if they’re done in a timely manner.

It wasn’t until my last semester of college when I realized I don’t enjoy how the world seems to be run by national and global corporations. I realized that fixing all of the problems in the world can’t be solved by government. It’s solved by us. And one way we can fix the economy, for instance, is to stop locally. Support local shops you enjoy. Go to Joe Schmo’s bar...

The Difference Between Art & Design →
Something I have struggled with since I started my design path has been my inability to produce art. Or at the least, this is a self-imposed feeling, blocking myself from any artistic talent I may or may not have. The design profession I’ve chosen has taught me a lot about myself, and I continue to improve dramatically compared to where I was a year ago. I have fantastic and encouraging...

I saw this movie tonight, and it struck me as such a raw, authentic love story with lots of realism and artisticness that just… blew me away. I didn’t even want to go see it tonight, and walked out loving this film. Even in heartache and heartbreak, life and love inspire me.

It’s been a while since I’ve felt particularly inspired. I’ve seen a few things while walking around KC, or have seen a few neat things online… but now what I’m inspired by is the new design of the former Sci-Fi channel. I used to be really bitter when I found out it was going to be called “SyFy.” I thought it was a terrible idea and would somehow make...

You know, I’ve never been able to dance too well… I took some ballroom and swing dance lessons in high school, but I think break dancing is what most of us have always wanted to do. I mean seriously, you just look really cool doing it.

Times I've Been a Douche →
Something that I find very, very, very particularly inspring is utter honesty. The ability to reflect on things you have done and know when they were wrong. It takes a lot of reflection and dedication to start moving yourself in the right direction. I certainly have my own weak spots that need attention, but this post done by a band I appreciate helped remind me of what it is I’m called to...

Third Eye Blind →
When people hear the name of this band, they always think back to when they first heard a song like Semi-Charmed Life or Jumper. Good songs, I’ll give you that. But I remember when I was first diving into music… I had found a few good bands. One day, though, my friend Jimi let me borrow his cd of Third Eye Blind’s first album in 8th grade. I remember staying up late at night...
